A Weekend to Remember: KaiserConquest at the AmuletD20 Retreat

Sometimes you travel for a tabletop event expecting great games and come home realizing that the games were only part of what made the weekend special.

Last weekend, the three of us from KaiserConquest – Alex, Daniel, and Lukas – had the pleasure of being invited by the amazing Slovenian AmuletD20 community to one of the most memorable hobby weekends we have ever experienced.

From the moment we arrived, it became clear that this was something different.

The retreat took place on a remote yet surprisingly luxurious farm nestled in the hills, surrounded by beautiful landscapes and breathtaking views stretching far across the valleys below. The location managed to combine rustic charm with great views and calm atmosphere in a way that felt almost unreal.

The centerpiece was a heavily modernized traditional hayrack, transformed into a three-story hobby paradise. The ground floor and first floor provided plenty of space to play games, chat, paint miniatures, discuss lists, and simply enjoy each other’s company. Meanwhile, the upper floor served as sleeping quarters, complete with comfortable mattresses and air conditioning. After a long day of gaming and socializing, it was exactly what hobby travelers could wish for.

The rest of the farm was equally impressive. Modern bathrooms and toilets, an outdoor kitchen area, plenty of seating, shade, and open space created an atmosphere where you could immediately relax and feel at home.

And then there was the hospitality.

To say that we were well taken care of would be an understatement. The food was fantastic throughout the entire weekend. Breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks – there always seemed to be something available, and at no point did anyone even have the opportunity to feel hungry. Everything was organized with incredible attention to detail and generosity.

Of course, there was plenty of Conquest: The Last Argument of Kings.

Games were played, armies clashed, lists were discussed, and countless conversations revolved around the latest rules, balance changes, faction developments, and the future of the game. It was especially enjoyable to exchange perspectives with players from different countries and communities.

The presence of the Italian players added another layer to the experience. Despite different languages and backgrounds, the shared passion for Conquest quickly turned everyone into friends. Throughout the weekend, tables were filled with games, discussions, laughter, and stories from events and local metas.

What stood out most, however, was not any particular game.

At some point during the weekend, the three of us realized something: even if not a single minute of Conquest had been played, this still would have been an amazing weekend.

That says everything.

The atmosphere, the location, the hospitality, and above all the people created an experience that went far beyond a tabletop event. It felt less like attending a tournament retreat and more like spending a weekend among friends who happened to share the same hobby.

We would therefore like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire AmuletD20 community.

A special thanks goes to Perko, Brilly, and all the other hardworking community members who invested their time, energy, and passion into making this event possible. The amount of work happening behind the scenes was obvious to everyone, and the result was something truly great.

Communities are built by people willing to create experiences for others, and the AmuletD20 team demonstrated exactly what makes our hobby so great.

Thank you for having us.

Thank you for an unforgettable weekend.

We are already looking forward to the next time our paths cross across a Conquest battlefield.
