Casual: Weaver Courts (Frazni, Lukas) vs Spires (Grisi)

Hi people!

It’s me, Lukas and I got another game of sweet Weaver Courts for you! This time I went against Grisi and his Spires. I tried a new list. Apologize for some proxies, but I am still in the phase of building (and converting) my army. So I had to proxy some moths and the backrank of Morrowen.

The scenario was Declined Flank.

Lets dive right into the game!

Round 1

We start in summer!
I only get my Kern mit Rhun Sidhe and one Whisp unit.. He gets both his Vanguard Clone units. We move up a bit, that’s it.

Eyeing each other up

Round 2

It’s Autumn!

He gets his Leonine Avatara and the Abomination
I get Morrowen, Crann, 2 Moth Units and my last two light units – pretty good I would say!
Nothing special happened. My Kern with Rhun Sidhe shoots at the Vanguard clones, doing heavy damage. I move onto all 3 zones, he moves onto 2 zones and that’s it.

The score is 6 to 4 for me.

The left side….

The right side….

Round 3

It’s winter now.

I get the rest of my units. He brings in the Incarnates, the Centaurs and the big Avatara Block as well as the Bound Clones.

So his Vanguard Clones on my right flank charge into the Whisps in front of them and do some damage, before they get obliterated by Arrows and the Whisps (which heal for 3 and get a stand back!).

In the middle he moves up his Infiltrators to get some cheeky shots into one of my Sciathan Moths. They get some damage, which I heal back in a bit. My Whisps then charge the Infiltrators to tie them up, doing little damage.
He then gets greedy and moves up his Leonine Avatara to get some Shots into my Crann. They are wholly within a forest, so I get Tenacious 2 because of their special rule! (I never thought this would happen in one of my games XD). The leonine does some damage, but not much. But now my Sciathan can charge into the Flank of the Leonine and oneshot them. I think it was a bit above average to oneshot them, but not by that much to be honest.
He then brings in the Centaur and the Avatara to reinforce the center of the board, while the Incarnates and the Bound Clones reinforce the right flank.
So the Abomination is stranded alone on the left flank, where Morrowen and Crann march up slowly.

I score 6, he does score 0 so it’s 12 to 4 now.

Left side

Right side….

Annihilation of the Leonine Avatar through Moth-Power!

Round 4.

Aaaaaaand it’s Spring!

He wins Supremacy and starts with the Abomination, which is left with only bad choices for charges. She could charge the Morrowen, or the Crann, both are really not ideal targets. He decides to go into the Morrowen, since it is a guaranteed charge. Thanks to Parry the Abomination does like 8 damage to the Morrowen, removing 2 bases.

I start with the Morrowen then, which heals back 7 wounds due to Draw Event and Bloom. Since its spring, they have support 4 now and 25 Attacks later, the Abomination is dead.
In the center the Centaur charged the Sciathan and oneshot them with their Impacts. So they decide to reform after, to not get charges into the flank by Whisps. Meanwhile these Whisps killed the Infiltrators combined with the overwhelming Firepower of some Kern.

I then move some Ciannir into the middle, shoot into the flank of the Centaur and manage to kill a whole base, while moving behind enemy lines.
On the right flank, I Bombing Run some Bound Clones , killing off one base, while starting to do some damage with Ciannir to the Incarnates. The Incarnates themselves march onto the Objective zone, which gets then contested by 3 Whisps.

I score 2, he scores 2, it’s 14 to 6 now.

Righ flank, Moth time again!

Round 5

It’s spring again!

I use my supremacy to have another turn in spring!

Nothing big is happening anymore. I kill the last Centaur Avatara with Ciannir shooting, while Bound Clones reform and charge the Sciathan, only to get mobbed by them and the Ciannir shooting into their back.
He moves up his Avatara block and tries a March-Charge into the Crann, but fails due to needing like a 5 or 6. He then gets shot by half a million arrows and charged by Crann Guardians afterwards.

The game ends, we did not calculate it till the end, but it’s a huge victory for the Weavers!
Thanks for the really good game! Turning point fur sure was to give the Leonine that easily, but my opponent didn’t saw the possible flank charge.

End of the game

Third Weavers impression

Weavers are so-fucking-cool!
The Seed mechanic is so fun to use. It really feels like you have to work for it, but when it works, it actually does something!

I really do like the Spring Warlord. The heal is clutch and the Movement is so nice to play with! But also it really tests your skill on movement and planning forward. You need to know where your seeds have to be and how you allocate them, since you cannot shuffle like the Wizard Warlord does.

Unitwise  a lot changed. No Heavys, but a lot of Mediums this time. The Crann felt really sturdy and can do some damage with the character. They are solid, but I am not sure if I would change them with Gallowglass, once they are released.
Morrowen are really cool and funny. They have such a wonky statline, but they felt good on the tabletop. Also I like the models quite a lot, so I am happy with them!

Moths are absolute killer! I love them so much. But they also die instantly, so you really have to use them well. I also think you can play them in any combination, since both variants are really good. Maybe not 4 units Sciathan, but I am not even sure about that…

Overall I really enjoy Weavers so far. A lot of things to test and play around with! I will run this list one more time and then I will test out the Mhor Sidhe as a Warlord and also get at least two games in with him. I am not sure if I am willing to test the Tao Sidhe as a Warlord, since I cannot see any (real) use case for him as a Warlord…
