Hello again lovely people!
It’s been a while… But here is another BattleReport! I played with my Weaver Courts against Elias and his City States. Elias is on a winning spree lately, so I thought it might be a good time to attempt to break his streak…

We played the new Linebreaker scenario with the suggested terrain layout. His Linebreaker units are the Sacred Band as well as a Skorpios. I did choose the Gallowglass Warriors and the Fianna, which was a mistake I think. But I wanted to try a fast moving unit…
Round 1
We start in Winter.
I am lucky and got all my lights onto the board. He also got all his lights – which is one unit.
Round 2
Its Spring now.
I chose my Wardens to auto-in and only rolled one more medium, which would be the Wyrd Knights. He rolls in two mediums, so Hoplites, Cows and the Flogobollon arrive.
He places the Hoplites on my left flank alongside the Chariot, which is a good move, since the House on my side hinders my reinforcement a bit… But thanks to flying, it’s not too harsh…
Round 3
It’s Summer!
I get both Heavies thanks to flank, but no mediums – cool beans. He gets everything but one Chariot.
So Talos and Agema arrive on the left side, pressuring the objective quite heavily. I did deploy myGallowglass Warriors there. They do not want to fight against the Talos, but as my opponent has the card advantage, he will always be able to deploy the Talos against the Warriors.
The Sacred Band shows up in the center, threatening the whole board. I place the Draic also in the center, maybe to snack on some cows.
He moves his Flogobollon forward to shoot at the Whisps, but misses every single shot. A mistake, because I move the Wardens forward, use their bloom and fire at the chariot, dealing something like six damage.
Round 4
It’s Autumn!
This turn took forever to play out. I had to check so many possibilities for the Sacred Band and where they might end up, it was crazy and very exhausting. That’s why I forgot to take some photos after this turn – but who cares. Right? RIGHT?!
This turn, not a whole lot happened. I played very cagey because of the Sacred Band and my two mediums arriving this late. He walks onto the left zone and starts scoring. I kill the Flogobollon in shooting – that’s it.
Round 5
It’s Winter!
Now a lot of stuff happens! On my left flank the Talos does charge into the Whisps, barely doing any damage thanks to water and hindering. He also does block the Agema, because I moved the Whisps in a way to block them. My Wardens start doing some damage to the Talos in return. Later I charge my Gallowglass Warriors in, doing a whole lot of Damage with Impacts and their attacks (even though only one Warrior got into contact…)
In the center he moved his cows onto the zone to score, but got into range of my Wyrd Knights. I used the bloom for +1 Cleave and their ability for Flurry and went for it. What can I say – I killed the cows within one activation. I did not expect this and it was unlikely, but we take those!
In the center, he charges the Sacred Band into the Whisps and obliterates them. I know that next turn, the Supremacy will hit me and kill my Kern with Character.
So the right flank was kinda lost, because we play cat and mouse between Fianna, Wyrd and Thorakites and one chariot. So I dared for a risky bait play. My Fianna march charged into the flank of the Sacred band. Elisa takes the “bait” and as a last activation charges the Fianna into their rear with his Thorakites – of course they killed the Fianna.
I know this whole move sounds weird, because the Fianna are my Linebreaker unit and so on, but trust…
Round 6
It’s… Autumn, thanks to my Supremacy!
So Elias uses his Supremacy, goes first and charges the Sacred Band into my Skirmishers and kills them.
Now it’s my turn. On top of the deck are my Wyrd Knights. I had one unit on the right flank and one unit in the middle slightly off to the left flank. So I activated the right flank Knights and did charge into the Flank of the Thorakites. Bloom for Cleave 2 and Flurry – lets go. No Thorakites left!
He then activated his Talos – which was a big mistake. He swings into the Gallowglass killing one already wounded bug.
My next card are Wyrd Knights again. They use Fluid to guarantee a charge into the Flank of the Hoplites. Bloom for Cleave 2 and Flurry. I have 16 Attacks, hitting 14 of them, which do not allow for saves and after that and with Resolves the unit is deleted. Crazy stuff…
My Wardens shoot the Talos for some wounds and the Gallowglass finish the last few wounds of (without inspire) and charge into the agema, nearly killing them with impacts.
So at this point, we talk it out. He scores a lot of points with his Sacred Band being Linebreaker. I score some points later for my Gallowglass being Linebreaker.
I hold a lot of zones for the rest of the game and in the end it’s 35 to 37 for the Weaver Courts! What an insanely close game!

Final thoughts
First of – City States are such a headache to play against. Between Strategic Deck and the Polemarch Supremacy, you have to think about so many possibilities, it’s crazy.
But let’s get to juicy Weaver-stuff!
So Autumn… Autumn is really fun and interesting to play. The Bloom for Cleave can be really, really good and could help in many matchups. The huge problem for me is The Culling. I think it would be fine if it triggers even when the enemy unit is not wounded already. Right now (if you play as rules intended) it can be hard to trigger and even then, it might not do a whole lot. But if The Culling simply works on Autumn turns, it would be a nice damage boost and would be on a level with the other courts (except spring ofc).
I think that Autumn is playable and nice, just like Summer and Winter. But the problem is, that Spring is just so much better, that it’s never really a choice. Which is fine for me, because I love the Spring playstyle, but yeah…
It also was my first time trying out the Gallowglass Warriors. To no one’s surprise, they are really good. I am not sure if I want to play them in a brick or a MSU yet, but we will see.
Fianna I missplayed hard, but I can see some use cases for one unit. They are cool and have some janky rules – I like that!
And now for the big elephant in the room – the Wyrd Knights. I now played three games in which I used two units of Knights. I would say, they are “a bit” overtuned and I honestly think they are a problem. I even did not use them in spring yet, which is obviously the best court (for them). They have an absurd threat-range, pack a lot of damage and are extremely mobile.
It’s not hard to imagine that people who do not care about money will probably bring five units to tournaments and will do very well.
